Hyaluronic acid. Yes, but which one?
Non tutti gli acidi ialuronici sono uguali! Oggi scopriamo insieme la differenza tra la biorivitalizzazione, il filler e il bio-ridensificante.

It’s easy to say hyaluronic acid, but not all hyaluronic acids are the same. Their different actions allow us to achieve different goals for the well-being of our skin. The treatments that involve the use of hyaluronic acid are many, and each has relevant characteristics and specificities. Usually, hyaluronic acid used in aesthetic medicine is obtained through laboratory synthesis with the support of biotechnology.
Let’s start by recalling that our skin naturally produces hyaluronic acid and elastin, and that this production, with advancing age, is drastically reduced. Treatments based on hyaluronic acid have different purposes: toning, plumping, increasing volume and turgor, and – last by not least – modeling.
The Aesthetic Doctor personalizes the hyaluronic acid treatment to perform based on client’s needs and goals, also taking into account the area on which the treatment is performed.
Bio-revitalization, for example, is performed with free hyaluronic acid, unlike fillers, which use cross-linked hyaluronic acid through the use of chemical agents. The more bonds are used for hyaluronic acid, the more it becomes “dense” and this explains why filler resorption is slower. For biorevitalization and fillers, the Aesthetic Doctor uses a very thin needle but, while in the case of biorevitalization this substance increases skin hydration, in the case of filler hyaluronic acid increases the volume of some particular areas. The Aesthetic Doctor may also choose to mix the treatments to obtain a more complete and harmonious result.
On the other hand, bio-redensifying can be considered a middle ground between biorevitalization and filler, as it involves short and long chains of hyaluronic acid held together by a thermal reaction, without the use of chemical cross-linking agents.
Bio-revitalization does not have a volumizing effect but manages to stimulate the natural production of collagen and, above all, has a tensor effect. The hyaluronic acid contained in the bioridensifying treatments has a low molecular weight and is able to reshape the face by combating laxity and defining in particular the contours of the face with a clear anti-aging action. After a bioridensifying treatment the skin appears relaxed, luminous, as well as younger and more compact thanks to the tensor effect.
Finally there are the bio-fillers, free hyaluronic acid combined with peptides. This type of product is particularly valid for the area of dark circles because it does not fill, but attenuates bags and dark color of the eye area.
At SOTHERGA, Aesthetic Doctors are free to use the product they deem most effective: there are no conditions or constraints with individual companies. In fact, our professionals can choose from dozens of products and recommend each patient exactly what his or her skin needs.
This is precisely why our expert injection Doctors carefully evaluate the needs and goals of each patient and then choose the most suitable treatment or mix of products to achieve the desired results, whether it be biorevitalization, filler, bio-redensifying or another of the many medical treatments available at SOTHERGA.
That’s why you can trust our professionalism and experience even more: our Aesthetic Doctors are also waiting for you to evaluate together the hyaluronic acid that is right for your skin!
Traction threads are also referred to as a non-surgical facelift. They are positioned in strategic points of the face and reshape its contours.
